Breakfast and visit of the Old part of the Town

After many glorious centuries, the Samnites were conquered by the Romans and Benevento became an important commercial Roman City (275 A.C.). Today you will journey back in Roman History by visiting famous monuments like the Trajan Arch, the Roman Theatre, the Bridge of the Leper and the Church of Saint Ilario.

• Visit to the Arco di Traiano

It was built under the Empire of Trajan between 114 and 117 BC. It is one of the must important and impressive triumph arches of Roman period. The place where the monument stands might have been chosen to mark the starting point of Trajan Road).

• Visit to the “Saint Ilario’s Church”. Inside the Church: movie projection with explanations about “the Arch”.
• Leaving from Saint Ilario Church by the tourist train to the Roman Theatre and “Leproso Bridge”.

The theatre was built under the Empire of Adriano and finished towards the end of the 2nd century. After restoring; it hosted about 20.000 spectators. In the last years, plays, concert and shows have been held.
The bridge called “Leproso” belongs to the same period of the theatre; it was built on the Appia Road, as well as the Trajan Arch towards east, to welcome the emperor who came back victorious from the eastern battles.
The legend says that under the Bridge, Witches’ rituals have been held during Middle Age.

In the evening move to MUSA (2 km from Benevento) an original museum plugged in the nature, LUNCH and tasting wines, events of the night.

Walking trough the streets of the old centre, between churches, monasteries and noble palaces, visitors enter in a world where time has stopped

Moving to Cerreto Sannita the fatherhood of the ceramic art, we can admire an old tradition of the best craftsmen of the world, and take part to the decoration by hand on pottery. On the road we stop at Torrecuso, the village of the best wines of Sannio.

Lunch in a romantic tavern inn, typical products and best wines.

The afternoon will be spent in Benevento to the discover of the modern city inside the old one, visiting the Hortus Conclusus a work of the famous artist Mimmo Paladino and the contemporary art museum ARCOS. Shopping and amusement in the lanes of the town.
